Landscape constraints on mire lateral expansion

چکیده
Little is known about the long-term expansion of mire ecosystems, despite their importance in global carbon and hydrogeochemical cycles. It has been firmly established that mires do not expand linearly over time. Despite this, are often assumed to have expanded at a constant rate after initiation simply for lack better understanding. There yet serious attempt determine drivers regional, or larger spatial scales. Here we make use natural chronosequence, spanning Holocene, which provided by retreating coastline Northern Sweden. By studying an isostatic rebound area can infer dynamics looking portion landscape where become progressively scarce as land becomes younger. Our results confirms non-linearly across related availability suitably wet areas, which, our case, depends primarily on hydro-edaphic properties landscape. Importantly, found occupied wettest locations within only one two thousand years, while it took three four years into slightly drier areas. imply lateral mires, thus peat accumulation non-linear process, occurring different rates depending, above all else, wetness

Constraints on Constraints: Surveying the Epigenetic Landscape
It is now relatively commonplace to advocate the need for some sorts of constraints on leornlng ond knowledge acquisition. The critical issues to cognitive science concern the sorts of constraints thot ore able to best model various phenomena of learning and development. Four types of constraints on learning ore proposed to be used as an interpretative fromework within which to: 1. Better under...
متن کاملConstraints on Cardassian Expansion
High redshift supernovae and Cosmic Microwave Background data are used to constrain the Cardassian expansion model (Freese & Lewis, 2002), a cosmology in which a modification to the Friedmann equation gives rise to a flat, matter-dominated Universe which is undergoing a phase of accelerated expansion. In particular, the precision of the positions of the Doppler peaks in the CMB angular power sp...
متن کاملObservational Constraints on Cardassian Expansion
In this work, we have studied the observational constraints on the Cardassian Model for the dark energy. We have compared the model with existing Supernova data. The dependence of the location of the Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation (CMBR) peaks on the parameters of the model have also been studied. We find, in particular that observational data arising from Archeops for the location of th...
متن کاملOn the lateral expansion of GRB jets
The dynamics of GRB jets during the afterglow phase have an important effect on the interpretation of their observations and for inferring key physical parameters such as their true energy and event rate. Semi-analytic models generally predict a fast lateral expansion, where the jet opening angle asymptotically grows exponentially with its radius. Numerical simulations, however, show a much mor...
متن کاملEmpirical Constraints on Vacuum Decay in the Stringy Landscape
It is generally considered as self evident that the lifetime of our vacuum in the landscape of string theory cannot be much shorter than the current age of the universe. Here I show why this lower limit is invalid. A certain type of " parallel universes " is a necessary consequence of the string-landscape dynamics and might well allow us to " survive " vacuum decay. As a consequence our stringy...
